Battle of Jacks Ridge canceled due to COVID-19

The ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have forced Rally New Zealand organizers to cancel the Battle of Jacks Ridge next year.

The rally sprint would have taken place on May 5-6. February to take place after the original date 13-14. November had been postponed.

The recent New Zealand outbreak, centered on Auckland, has resulted in the government putting in place a traffic light system.

With Auckland currently marked as ‘red’ and not sure whether it will turn orange or green, the organizers have decided to cancel the 2022 event.

“We have been considering until the next government announcement on Jan.

“However, given the information provided and the likelihood that Auckland will stay red for the next few weeks, we felt it was important to give a decision to the many competitors and fans who bought tickets as they need to make travel and accommodation arrangements. that are required to be canceled or changed and many would appreciate a refund before Christmas. “

While the standalone event won’t happen next year, the Jacks Ridge course could still be used sometime in 2022.

The venue was intended to be used as part of the 2020 World Rally Championship which was ultimately canceled due to COVID-19 and prompted the creation of the event.

With the World Rally Championship returning in 2022, Jacks Ridge is expected to be deployed should this event take place from September 29th to October 2nd.
