The W Series, a partner of Acronis, has announced that former racer and Olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner will be joining the 2022 W Series with her own racing team.
Hailed by Time magazine as “the greatest athlete alive” after winning the decathlon at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, Jenner is also no stranger to motorsport, having made his debut as a celebrity racer at the 1979 Long Grand Prix Beach in California, USA, to drive as part of Jim Busby’s team in the legendary 24 Hours of Daytona.
It ignited a passion for the sport that has stayed with Jenner, who later competed professionally in the IMSA Camel GT Championship as a works driver for Ford Motor Company for Jack Roush and alongside co-driver at the 1986 12 Hours of Sebring Scott Pruett, for which Jenner would finish second in the championship that year.

In her role as team principal, Jenner will oversee the day-to-day operations of her Jenner Racing team including lineup, car livery and sponsorship acquisition to align with her mission of advancing women in sport.
“As a supporter of fair competition, a lover of motorsports and a supporter of all women in sport, from grassroots to elite, the W Series ticks all the boxes for me and is an amalgamation of different aspects of my career,” he told Jenner. “As a championship dedicated to inspiring young girls and giving women the chance to thrive in roles in a traditionally male-dominated industry, the W Series is changing the face of motorsport.
“As the series continues its rapid expansion with a truly international cast of drivers and races, this was the perfect time to come on board. The W Series had a global reach of more than half a billion viewers in 2021 and I’m going to the market to acquire sponsors that align with my shared missions and the W Series.”
It was recently announced that the W Series will be visiting four new race locations for Season 3, which begins May 6-8 at the Miami Grand Prix at the all-new Hard Rock Stadium complex.
“I watched with great excitement last year as the W Series made its American debut in Austin, Texas, USA, where its drivers entertained 400,000 fans at the Circuit of the Americas over the weekend,” Jenner added. “In May, I will beam with pride as my Jenner Racing Team battle it out for W-Series glory in support of Formula 1 on motorsport’s greatest stage at the first race of Season 3 in Miami, USA to win it.
