Wexford Quay last weekend hosted some of the finest vintage and modified cars in the country for an event held to raise money for an organization that helps young children attend hospital visits. This family-friendly day, organized by DB Dailys, a car-loving club based in Wexford, brought out the wider motorsport community in support of Bumbleance, a service that provides safe and comfortable transport for Ireland’s youngest patients.
exford motor club showcased their fiesta rally car, yri motorsport had their american inspired hot rod on site and sam bennett showed off his off-road rock crawler buggy. The show ended with some trophies being presented to all Irish companies that had helped promote and raise awareness of Bumbleance itself. The show’s car was a Nissan 240 Z Fair Lady, closely followed by a Toyota Twincam. Other winners included a VW MK1 Golf, a Nissan Skyline R32 and a VW Caddy.
“The day provided a relaxed atmosphere enjoyed by young and old alike, with a high frequency on the quay front with something for everyone,” said Ian Dunne, CEO of DB Dailys. “The day brought many communities together, from the classic enthusiasts mingling with the more heavily modified cars. Children enjoyed jumping in and out of the American-inspired Irish Legends race cars and rally cars, while also raising vital funds and raising awareness for the Bumbleance.
“The Bumbleance took center stage on the day, showcasing everything that makes it such an important part of Ireland’s healthcare system. With the kind hearted staff represented by Shay their driver and the cool, calm and friendly atmosphere inside and out which made for a happy and safe place for children to take their journey to and from medical facilities.
Since its inception in 2016, DB Daily has held events across the county to raise funds for charities. In the past it has donated money to the RNLI, Pieta House and Johnstown Castle. This year, in addition to its work with Bumbleance, it has initiated a series called Fueled, which runs through Talbot Lake and a nature walk, raising money for both.
