“Finland was huge for me”

Adrien Fourmaux of M-Sport Ford says that every corner of the Secto Automotive Rally Finland last weekend taught him a lesson.

The 26-year-old tackled the event in Jyväskylä for the second time and was happy to finish seventh with his Ford Fiesta World Rally Car without incident – despite a monster jump of almost 70 meters at the end of the year, the final Wolf Power Stage .

Fourmaux said his first attempt at Finland’s WRC round in a 4×4 was to gain experience at one of the most special events of the season. The mission was accomplished, said the Frenchman, who followed his English teammate Gus Greensmith home.

“It’s been a huge rally for me,” he told WRC.com. “I came here two years ago and drove a Rally4 car – now I’m in a World Rally Car! I knew that I had to have a lot of experiences. I had to get to the end without a mistake and I did.

“To be honest, every corner has taught me a lesson. In every phase I came out of, I knew more and I understood more. It is true that it is [the time difference] a bit frustrating but I am a competitor and I don’t like to lose. This rally was unlike any other. “

When asked about this jump on the Ruuhimäki Wolf Power Stage, he said: “It was a nice jump. I don’t know the record, but it flew almost 70 meters. Everything was fine in the car, it flew well – maybe it looked more dramatic from the outside. “
