Thousands of people turn out for a week of fun, music, food, games and community events for Newburyport’s Yankee Homecoming, now in its 66th year. In fact, this is the second oldest homecoming festival in America.
This festival week is truly hometown America at its best. There is something for everybody.
The Waterfront Morning Workout Series includes Pilates, Yoga, Stroller Bootcamp, Karate, and HIIT classes.
A High School Band Competition will be held on Saturday July 30th starting at 6pm on the Waterfront Stage.
41 years old and still thriving, Art on Barltett Mall features over 60 New England artists exhibiting their art on the corner of High Street and Pond Street. Look out for the art exhibition on July 30th and 31st, both days from 10am to 4pm.
Nightly concerts run from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., with last night’s music ending at 9:15 p.m. on August 6, followed by Yankee Homecoming Fireworks.
Microbrewery lovers will love Brewfest on Saturday, July 30 from 5pm to 9pm at Cashman Park. Sample over 20 microbrews, enjoy live Steelfingers music and feast on food trucks. This is a fundraiser for Yankee Homecoming. Tickets for this 21+ event cost $45 and are available HERE.
Olde Fashioned Sunday is Sunday July 31st to create a memorable opening weekend for Yankee Homecoming. The day features fun old school family games like a three legged race, sack race, water balloon toss, hula hooping, midway games and of course the beginner’s cornhole tournament.
If cornhole is your thing, you might want to wait for the competitive tournament on August 6th. This tournament is for the die-hard cornholers.
There’s even a road rally for the more adventurous.
Did you know Newburyport’s Yankee Homecoming has its own flag? It does, and you’ll be seeing them in homes and businesses from now through Homecoming Festival.
And to top off the week, on Sunday 7th August at 12pm there will be a parade with floats, vintage cars and marching bands.
