The veteran Congressman will urge Hudson residents to vote earlier

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Chair Amy DeGise and the Hudson County’s Democratic Organization will host a Get Out the Early Vote rally on Sunday, October 24th, hosted by Governor Phil Murphy and South Carolina Congressman James Clyburn, a political icon who was instrumental in President Joe Biden’s victory in 2020. The event will take place at 4:00 p.m. at Courtney Fricchione Park, 179 West Side Avenue in Jersey City. Governor Murphy and Chairperson DeGise urge voters to attend the rally where Congressman Clyburn will make remarks and ensure they have a plan to vote early in the upcoming election.

“We’re thrilled to have Governor Murphy and Rep. Clyburn attend this important event to ensure Hudson Counties know they now have the opportunity to vote earlier,” said Amy DeGise, Democratic chairwoman of Hudson County. “This election is a critical moment for the Democratic Party in our state and we must do everything we can to re-elect Governor Murphy and the Democrats on the ballot. Now, more than ever, we need elected leaders who have demonstrated their ability to get things done while we continue to recover from Covid and vaccinate New Jersey and get back to work. I encourage anyone who can attend on Sunday to do so, and make sure you discuss an early voting plan with your friends and family! ”

Congressman Clyburn represents the 6th Congressional District of South Carolina. He has been a member of the US House of Representatives since 1993 and is the third-ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives. Clyburn, a former educator and activist, was also instrumental in securing Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 Democratic primary. He supported then-candidate Biden three days before the South Carolina Primary, where Biden’s subsequent victory proved to be a turning point in the campaign.

The Get Out the Early Vote rally will take place on Sunday, October 24th at 4:00 p.m. at Courtney Fricchione Park, 179 West Side Ave. Light refreshments, comments from Congressman Clyburn and surprise entertainment will be provided.

Residents can vote early from Saturday, October 23 through Sunday, October 31, or on election day on Tuesday, November 2.
