Johnston is moving to Katsuta for Finland

Takamoto Katsuta will team up with co-driver Aaron Johnston at the Secto Automotive Rally Finland next week (October 1-3).

The Toyota Gazoo Racing Challenge program driver announced today (Tuesday) that Keaton Williams is unavailable for the tenth round of the championship.

Katsuta and Williams missed the EKO Acropolis Rally Greece earlier this month after Williams traveled home due to a family emergency. This morning he confirmed on his social media pages that the problems are still ongoing.

Johnston broke up with Hyundai Young Gun Oliver Solberg last week and will stand in for the Jyväskylä encounter.

Takamoto Katsuta had a groundbreaking season with a first podium finish at the Safari Rally Kenya

He already has experience at the top of the WRC, having driven Solberg twice this year in an i20 World Rally Car, and is believed to have worked closely with Daniel Barritt, who was co-driver for Katsuta before he injured his back in Estonia.

“I will compete [in] Rally Finland with Aaron Johnston ”, announced Katsuta. “I’m so excited, we’ll do our best! And I have to say thanks to Dan for your huge support behind us [as] always, ”he added.

Katsuta is currently in sixth place in the overall standings after a strong first half of the year in which he finished on the podium for the first time at the Safari Rally Kenya in June. He has retired in Estonia and Belgium but previously named Finland one of his favorite rallies.
