This 11,000 km long Subaru Impreza WRX from 1999 is pure rally nostalgia

A clean-looking, low-mileage Subaru Impreza WRX from 1999 is about to go under the hammer through an online Collecting Cars auction, reminding us of the golden era of the WRC and the impact it had on production cars.

While not nearly as rare as the two-door Impreza 22B STi, the regular Impreza WRX is still a desirable car, especially when it’s in such good condition. This right-hand drive example looks like a time capsule and has only 17,623 km (10,950 miles) on the odometer.

The pure white paintwork complements the clear design of the first-generation Impreza (1992-2000) and makes the bonnet openings and bumper inlets more visible to the untrained eye. The headlights and taillights are clear as they were in the late 90s, and the short rear wing makes for a more sensible design compared to the large one on the full-blown STi.

The situation in the cabin, which looks like it came straight from the factory, is just as impressive. The dark gray upholstery is combined with red accents and red stitching on the steering wheel and gear knob. The driver and front passenger enjoy two comfortable bucket seats with integrated headrests, while the white painted instrument panel has everything you need for infotainment.

Since this is a late example of the first-generation Impreza WRX (likely a GC8F or a GC8G), the 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine develops 276 hp (206 kW / 280 hp) and 250 lb-ft (339 Nm). of the torque. The power is transmitted to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. While it can’t compete with a modern 2022 Subaru WRX, those specs were good enough to put a big smile on the driver’s face.

The vehicle is located in Joondana, Western Australia and is expected to be auctioned shortly. There are no estimates of the price it might fetch, but we suspect it won’t get cheap.
