Members of the Central Adirondack Association (CAA) are pleased to announce that this weekend they will be hosting their traditional Father’s Day weekend celebrations in person, beginning with one Vintage and classic car rally which begins at 7:00 p.m. on the evening of Friday, June 17 at the North Country Market in Thendara, NY and then travels up and down Main Street. Those wishing to participate in the car rally are asked to queue in the North Country Market parking lot from 6:30pm
The following day, Saturday June 18, the 25th yearbook Father’s Day weekend Classic & Antique Auto Show takes place at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center/Pavilion. No pre-registration is required this year, instead registration begins at 9:00 am. Vehicles are $20 per car, and spectators are admitted free. Guests are encouraged to spend the day viewing classic and antique cars of all makes and models while having the chance to win door prizes, purchase food and beverages from the North Country Market and enjoy lively music.
Each spectator receives a ballot to vote for their favorite vehicle. At 2:00 p.m., Spectator Choice Awards and plaques will be presented, including $250 for first place, $150 for second place, and $100 for third place. The event is organized by the CAA and sponsored by the Adirondack Garage and North Country Market.
On Sunday June 19th, the longstanding annual Father’s Day Frog Jumping Contest begins at 12:00 p.m. at the Old Forge Lakefront Tennis Courts. Children are asked to catch their winning frog and bring it to the competition which will be judged in the following categories: smallest frog, biggest frog, fastest frog and longest jump. Dads are invited to don their most outrageous tie for another fun competition. All frogs are released unharmed after the competition, which lasts about 60 minutes. The frog jumping competition is sponsored by the CAA.
