The East African Safari Classic Rally, which begins February 10th, has received a major investment boost from Victoria Commercial Bank. The bank has promised Ksh. 10 million in sponsorship to the rally while preparations complete.
The 5,000km+ race will start in Naivasha and pass through 11 different Kenyan counties including Nakuru, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, Laikipia, Kajiado, Taita Taveta and finish in Watamu, Kilifi County. As well as local drivers, the rally has attracted participants from the UK, Russia, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, South Africa and the USA. The high level of interest in the race was fueled by the successful WRC Safari Rally 2021 and the East African Safari Mini Classic Rally held in Kenya last year.
“Victoria Commercial Bank PLC is proud to be the exclusive financial services sponsor of the world’s largest rally, the East African Safari Classic Rally, taking place from 10th to 18th February 2022. We believe this sponsorship will bring significant planning support to organisers, relief and ultimately spectator and driver enjoyment at this iconic international motorsport event,” said Dr. Yogesh Pattani, CEO of Victoria Commercial Bank.
EASCR Events Director Natasha Tundo said that despite the turbulent time the world is experiencing due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the rally is well prepared for an adrenaline-fuelled 9-day event. “We are proud to be running this classic rally despite the challenges posed by the pandemic as it is an important milestone in marketing Kenya’s diverse culture and as a tourist destination. EASCR is committed to bringing the best of our country to global audiences across TV, digital and audio platforms.” Ms. Tundo explained.
