A great pleasure, this special video. That it was found on YouTube was a nod to the “Dazzling Duo” feature in the latest issue of Vintage Motorsport magazine, in which author Natan Tazelaar presented two very special Porsche 911 competition models, the 993 GT2 Clubsport and the Carrera Cup 3.8 RSR. compares and contrasts.
The video is a close-up of the former, the so-called “GT2”, and the delight came not only from the sights and sounds of a particularly desirable 911 variant from the late 1990s, but also from CH “Harry” Metcalfe’s narration.
Justified “Porsche 993 GT2 on test. Is this street racer the ultimate air-cooled 911 Turbo?”this is just one of the outstanding 20 million videos on the former editor-in-chief of Evo Magazine’s YouTube channel, Harry’s Garage.
“The Porsche 911 GT (better known as the 993 GT2) will certainly always remain one of the most coveted 911s of all,” says the description of the video. “Built in very limited numbers, mainly for homologation reasons, it dominated the FIA GT2 class in the late 1990s. Only 7 RHD examples were ordered in the UK and this is one of them.”
(As an aside, Metcalfe is also a farmer, and his Harry’s Farm YouTube channel is equally entertaining and informative, although we couldn’t find any reviews of Porsche’s tractor.)
