Lando Norris recently announced that he wants to try rallying, which led to this world’s current star, Oliver Solberg, responding to him.

Now entering the fourth season of his Formula One career with McLaren, Norris continues to impress and is making himself a future star of the series in the eyes of many, still at just 22 years old.

Outside of Formula 1, Norris has another project called Quadrant, his gaming and racing brand, for which he recently promoted a new clothing line.

The use of a rally car was part of this promotional content, matching the off-road feel of the clothing and it gave Norris the rally fever.

“One day I want to try rallies,” said Norris Motorsport.com.

“Our next collection of Quadrant clothing has a bit of an off-road vibe. So we did some stuff recently to record a track for it that involved rallies.

“And I just realized the first time I went there and witnessed how crazy these people are. It really, really made me want to try it.

“I could start where there are no trees, [at the] At the end of the year I just want to try it – somewhere safe! Somewhere with tire locks.

“Car mastery and applying and handbrake and timing and all that stuff, it’s always good to do it every once in a while to gain car mastery and stay sane in more than just driving a Formula 1 car.

“It’s like karting. A lot of Formula 1 drivers like to go karts because it gives them the feeling of feeling things and there is a lot of emotion in karting. The same goes for rallying, I just want to get going and try something new.”

And World Rally Champion Oliver Solberg, son of 2003 WRC Champion Petter Solberg, is very open to helping Norris make his wish come true.

Oliver took to social media to respond to Norris’ words.

“Call me Lando Norris – we can work this out,” he tweeted.

Formula 1 has a current driver who is very active in rallying, namely Valtteri Bottas, who has competed in the Arctic Lapland Rally three times.

But since Norris simply expressed an interest in trying a rally car, would he ever consider entering a competition?

“Maybe one day,” he replied. “I have to try it first just to see what it’s like just because it looks amazing and yes there are always things in life that people want to try and do.

“It comes across as if I’d like to try it sometime.”
